Sexual Assault Kit Initiative (SAKI) GranteeCounty of Anoka (Minnesota)

In FY2023, SAKI awarded the Anoka County Sheriff's Office (ACSO) $1.15 million to further investigate cold cases outside of the original scope of its SAKI work, including unsolved homicides, non-SAKI sexual assaults, missing persons, robberies, violent burglaries, and terroristic threats. ACSO will (1) complete a full inventory of all violent crime cold cases in its records, (2) develop cold case investigation protocols and procedures, (3) evaluate and assign priority levels to all cold cases, evaluate evidence and test or re-test it to further investigations, (4) hold offenders accountable, and (5) maintain a multidisciplinary team to assist cold case investigations and support victims and their families.

Our Mission

Funded by the Bureau of Justice Assistance, the Sexual Assault Kit Initiative aims to create a coordinated community response that ensures just resolution to sexual assault cases. Through this program, funding is provided to support multidisciplinary community response teams engaged in the comprehensive reform of jurisdictions approaches to sexual assault cases resulting from evidence found in previously unsubmitted sexual assault kits.
